Jessica + Josh | Snow Day!

Hello all and happy snow day!

I love photography sessions that last an entire fun-filled weekend, especially when my BFG is able to come along. Last weekend, Greg and I took a little road trip with the fabulous Jessica and Josh to Leavenworth for the perfect combination Winter, wine, and engagement photos. I find that these situations fit very nicely into my simple-yet-effective theory that if you're actually having a good time while your photos are being taken, you don't have to simply act like you are. Trust me, the camera knows the difference. The truth is all of us look better when we're not trying so hard. We played in the snow, drank fantastic wine, had a few nighttime shenanigans and I even got the chance to lay on some train tracks (which you know I just love to do). Plus, we all made it home before kick off on Sunday.

Josh is a Pats fan and while his team didn't get the win, I think he summed it up best when responding to Greg's snarky post game text with, "Good game, better weekend." I couldn't agree more. We are gonna have such a fabulous time at your wedding this September!!! Cheers to you both!

Joey + Ben | Sweet Love

Meet the absolutely lovely Joey and Ben.

Honestly, aren't these two just the most adorable couple? For some reason I just felt the vintage feel suited them so well. I am incredibly happy to have them as my first engagement session of 2012!

We met up Saturday for a walk through the Seattle Art Museum's sculpture park. I just love that Joey wanted to bring that awesome balloon. I love those big weather- balloon inspired ones. Fabulous. We started off with a wander through Richard Serra's Wake sculpture, which is one of my absolute favorites for photography because of the cool rust-colored steel construction. From there we stopped by another of my favorites, Roy McMakin's Love & Loss sculpture- so very, very cool.

We did a quick tour through the market for some flowers and a stop by the infamous gum wall, before heading to Dim Sum at the fantastic Jade Garden. After a quick lunch together with Joey's bridesmaid Alice, and her brother, we were back in the car heading back to pick up their awesome dog, Tank.

We ended our afternoon at Camp Long in West Seattle. This beautiful park is one of my favorite little urban oasis's. We hung out with Tank, did a little log-version of Rock/Paper/Scissors, some light reading, some rock climbing, and a little cupcake eating. You do know that's one of my very favorite past times. :) Basically, we had a wonderful time. I am so incredibly excited about Ben and Joey's wedding this Summer at the historic Arctic Hotel!!! Eeeeeee! So much gorgeous fun.

Better Late Than Never? | Erica + Jon

About 30 minutes ago I noticed with horror and embarrassment that I'd actually forgotten to post one of my weddings from 2011. Not just any wedding, but one of my favorites. Seriously, how does this happen?! Luckily Erica and Jon are two of the most stunning individuals you could ever meet, inside and out. Neither said a thing, simply thinking their wedding just didn't make the cut. This breaks my heart because it's the farthest thing from the truth. Erica and Jon, you two are amazing. I hope you enjoy having your images finally up on the blog, and that perhaps the better-late-than-never rule applies?

Final Post of 2011! {The Campbell Family}

As the final blog of 2011, I'd like to share with you a few photos I took with the Campbell Family earlier this month while they took their annual family trip out to Yeisley's Tree Farm on Tiger Mountain to cut down their Christmas tree. Melissa and Devon, with their kids Gabe, Nicole, and Lauryn are like family to me. The kindest folks you could ever meet and in every way deserving of this final post.

Now a quick note to all of my clients, friends, and family...Thanks to all of you for sharing your lives with me, you help make me the person I am and want to be the person I could be. Much love to you all, see you again for lots more photos in 2012!

Well here it is. I've saved one of my very favorite weddings of 2011 until the very end. My first wedding in New York, the first time I've been to the Big Apple since I was 10 years old, and I got to spend it with the amazing Josh and Amy. I knew I'd love them right away because Amy is a fantastic pet photographer while Josh is an accomplished Director of Photography for several programs you've most definitely heard of. They are both fantastically creative, energetic, and let's face it, super attractive. Sometimes my job is just soooo hard.

The beautiful details of this wedding were really what made it so magical, that and Amy and Josh's willingness to travel the streets and subways of Manhattan prior to tying the knot. We began the day in their hotel room properly with coffee, bagel and a schmear. Amy's jaw-dropping dress was Nicole Miller and her shoes Badgley Mischka, two of my favorite designers (for obvious reasons).

We started our tour of the city with yellow cab ride and a stop at the Bowling Green subway station, which had a gorgeous facade and gritty yet colorful interior. Times being as they are, we of course had to head over to Zuccotti Park check out the crowds at Occupy Wall Street. I was amazed at how many people wanted to talked with these two and have their photo taken with them. At one point a group even started singing Here Comes The Bride! It was surreal. From there we headed back to the hotel for a few scenic rooftop shots of the city.

The wedding was held at Battery Gardens, a gorgeous venue in Battery Park, who took care of the catering and the amazing floral arrangements. In lieu of individual wedding favors, Amy and Josh opted to make a donation to the Human Rights Campaign. They are both huge advocates for equality and this was their way to express their support of the newly passed Marriage Equality Act which legalized same-sex marriages in New York. I think this was such a wonderful gesture.

Their ceremony was very personal, which I always love. Instead of Amy walking down the aisle herself, the couple decided they'd rather present a unified front and come down together to the clapping of their family and friends. :) After a lovely service with vows personally written by each, they broke the glass and it was back down the aisle together to get the party started.

After an always awesome Hora (never a dull moment!), amazing dinner with delish cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine, and lots of great toasts, the party rocked on late into the night. I also made lots of new awesome friends at the after party and the pizza was fantastic.

Thank you so much to Amy and Josh for their amazing hospitality and for sharing their most celebrated of days with me. I simply cannot tell you how much I enjoyed spending time with and getting to know you, your family and friends. I also cannot forget to thank the stupendously talented and charming Tanya Salazar for being the very best assistant I could ask for. You rock SO hard. Thank you thank you thank you!! I must come back to visit soon and hope that if any of you ever find yourselves on this side of the continent, you give me a ring. Beers are most definitely in order.

Misty + Nando | Fly me to the Moon!

Misty and Nando were married at the very cool Museum of Flight over Thanksgiving weekend. Misty wore a vintage-inspired off-the-shoulder gown, birdcage veil and sexy red satin heels. Her stylists did a beautiful job with her Marilyn-inspired curls and classic make up, and Nando was (as Nando always seems to be) all smiles. :)

We began with some fun at Alki and moved on to downtown Seattle before heading over to the Museum. Their ceremony was beautiful and fun. When asked for the ring, his bestman instead pulled out a remote control. Nando then drove the little car, equipped with a video camera, up the aisle to record the events. Such an awesome idea! The couple moved to Australia (back to where Nando is originally from) two weeks after the wedding and love to travel. To celebrate that, as a post ceremony send off, their guests threw paper airplanes made from world maps. So very clever. :)

There were many other travel inspired elements included in their wedding design. Each reception table included handmade velum lanterns with a different international cityscape motif as well as individual wedding glasses with the Chinese character for Double Happiness. Their cake was cleverly designed to look like vintage travel cases and their escort cards were luggage tags.

I had a wonderful time with these two and am so happy for them. Their love and joy is infectious, not to mention all the smiling! You simply cannot be around them without noticing a slight lift in your spirits. Best wishes Misty and Nando for a wonderful future full of exploring and lots and lots of smiles!!

Lenore + Odell | December at the Beach

Meet the adorable Lenore and Odell.

These two just moved to Seattle from Chicago this Summer and I am SO happy they did. And not just because they made me a fabulous Filipino breakfast to begin their engagement shoot. :) Warmth and love just seem to radiate from these two. I was delighted to share a crisp December Saturday with them, walking Shilshole and playing games at the very cool Cafe Mox in Ballard. If you ever decide to go, I highly recommend playing Blockus with some fun peeps and ordering the grilled cheese bites. A truly wonderful way to spend a chilly afternoon.

Jen + Mike | TRUE love

Once upon a time a beautiful American princess named Bradshaw fell in love with a handsome English prince named True. Our story begins in a bar, but takes us to faraway lands and Bavarian villages. Jen and Mike, forgive me. This story should have been told on a hot Summer night and here it is the first day of Winter. You simply cannot rush a True love story.

Those of you who regularly follow the blog know that in January, my dear friend and fellow photog Nichole and I traveled across the pond to visit this lovely couple in London. Along the way we forged some wonderful friendships which only multiplied and grew during their wedding weekend in Leavenworth on this past August. A weekend beyond compare.

Jen and Mike were married at the gorgeous Beecher Hill House in the quaint city of Peshastin, just minutes from the Bavarianesque town of Leavenworth. Beecher Hill may just be my favorite venue of 2011. Located in a quiet pear orchard, it has the distinctly warm and sweet feel of an old Southern estate house.

Adorned with flowers from the talented Patti Bosket, the gorgeous wedding party only added to the classic elegance and picturesque quality of the day; the bridesmaids in peacock blue, the men in slate gray. Jen wore a pair of jaw-dropping studded heels in a color my friends at Crayola would call Jungle Green with stunning pearl jewellery hand-made by her fabulous step mom Linda. And what would a British wedding be without some amazing fascinators? All of the elaborate hair pieces were made by Gillian Million in London.

The ceremony took place on the grand lawn in the warm Summer sun. As is British tradition, Mike kept his back turned as Jen walked down the aisle accompanied by her father, only turning to see her once she arrived next to him at the altar. It was a beautiful affair with wonderful words of love and friendship. Their good friend Charlie played guitar and sang a breath-taking version of Angus and Julia Stone's The Wedding Song.

After the brilliant ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour imbibing on Bing Cherry Mojitos and Pimm's cocktails. All guests were given their choice of American or British flags to wave while listening to the musical stylings of the FABULOUS Chumstick Liberation Front. I'm telling you right now, these guys were hands down the BEST wedding band I heard all year, they even came up with the most amazing personalized wedding rap just for the couple!

The fun rolled on deep into the night with yummy food and desserts (Hilary Shepard, your french macaroons were to die for!!) and tear-jerking toasts followed by some crazy-fun dance moves! Unfortunately, you can't stay forever at the venue, but before moving on to the after party in downtown Leavenworth, we were all treated to fresh-baked cookies by Jen's friend Jen :) and cold milk.

Needless to say, this group knows how to party and the festivities rocked on 'til the break of dawn with lots more drinking, dancing, and dreaded karaoke. I honestly have no idea what time I finally made it back to the house in the wee small hours of the morning, but what I do know is that I made more than a couple of friends for life that night. And I know Nic did too. :)

It's funny how life works isn't it? Jen and Mike, your wedding not only changed the course of your lives, but ours as well. Nichole and I will be forever grateful for your hospitality, love, and friendship. I am so incredibly happy to have you both in Seattle now, drinks at Redhook soon!!

Paige + Cory | It's 11/11...Make a Wish.

Cory and Paige were married on the magical day of November 11th at the Lake Union Cafe in Seattle. You may remember these two from their engagement session earlier this year which we shot in their elementary school classrooms, one of my absolute favorite shoots of the year. There are few couples in this world that possess the magical spirit of these two. I can't imagine the two of them as anything other than teachers, except perhaps a fairy god mother and magical cricket that help you realize your dreams. Maybe that's silly, but it's definitely true.

I LOVE the first-day-of-school details of there wedding, from the acorns, apples and oak leaves to the chalk boards, cute Fall-themed magnets and freshly sharpened colored pencils. Everything was there to remind you of the excitement of that very first day. The first day of school was the day when you were able to start fresh and you felt your entire life was ahead of you. Honestly, what better way to celebrate the beginning of your new life together?

You need only minutes in the presence of Paige and Cory to know the amazing bond these two share and the astounding kindness and spirit they share for each other and for teaching. Now, while I don't have small children myself (or large ones for that matter) I happen to be friends with some pretty cool kiddos who've had classes with each half of this teaching duo and when the kids and their parents are singing their praises, you know you have something very special. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if they had action figures, I'd own the whole set. Even Special Editions Lunch Lady Paige (complete with removable hair net and tub of coleslaw) and Janitor Cory with optional gum scraper package.

I adore you two with all my heart and hope to share many, many more firsts with you both.

Stacy and Justin were married in September (I'm a little out of order, forgive me) at the beautiful Daughters of the American Revolution mansion on Capitol Hill. The bouquets were simply gorgeous, the food superb. I just loved all of their rustic yet elegant touches- from the adorable Mr + Mrs etched wood chair labels to the dried lavender their guests tossed as the rushed out the door at the end of the evening. The gourmet popcorn and animal print flip flops for guests at the end of the night was also a wonderful touch. :)

It was a lovely affair and I am so deeply thankful to Justin and Stacy for sharing their wonderful day with me. Much love goes out to these two wonderful people and their families!!

Amy + Josh | Big Love in the Big Apple

Meet Amy and Josh. We shot their amazing "engagement" session just two days before their wedding in New York City last month and became fast friends. I hadn't been to the Big Apple since I was a teenager and was so excited to be headed there for my first East Coast wedding! I have so much awesome stuff to say about these two that I'm not quite sure where to start. She's a pet photographer, he's in video and they're both two of the nicest and most creative people you could meet. They are fun and silly and beautiful and clever, honestly what else could you want?

We began our afternoon at Georgio's in Josh's old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen before heading over for beers at Valhalla, the local bar where Amy and Josh shared one of their first dates. From there we were off to Central Park to see some pretty cool huge bubble blowing and do a little dancing minutes before twilight.

Believe me when I say you're all in for a treat when you see the amazing details of their beautiful wedding, which I hope to have posted in the next couple of weeks. Hard to believe, but these two get even better looking when you gussy 'em up a bit.

Sara + Bruce | British Airs with American Flair

I have found, this year in particular, that British men and American women make absolutely wonderful couples. I've met several such couples recently (stay tuned for Jen + Mike's blog) and somehow it's consistently magical. I've been waiting to find a great wedding to blog completely in black and white and Sara and Bruce have allowed me just that. These two beautiful people were married this Fall at the very cool Shilshole Bay Beach Club after sprucing up at the lovely, waterfront Edgewater Hotel. Their dogs, Bear and Harry, were their ring bearers and Sara held a horseshoe throughout the ceremony to bring luck and good wishes. They had some hilarious speeches during dinner by their wedding party before handing out tasty cupcakes for dessert. I never tire of the English's clever phrases and charm and had such a wonderful time with these two, it's simply enchanting to be around them.

Sarah and Alaina | Purple + Orange Olympic Park Reception

It is time to prepare yourself for some amazingly fabulous details!! Sarah and Alaina's wedding reception took place this Fall at the beautiful Olympic Park Institute nestled quietly in the Olympic rainforest. Their guests stayed in summer camp-esque cabins and were given flashlights as their wedding favors. So creative! The super cool ties were ordered from my favorite creative wedding site, Etsy, and the cake pops and AMAZING prop plane s'mores cake were made by the couple. I loved all the purple and orange, especially Sarah's socks and Alaina's Converse.

Thanks to the adorable Sarah and Alaina and their wonderful families and friends for showing me such a good time! I'm just sorry I couldn't stay for the campfire and s'mores. Much love to both of you!

Lindsay + Stu | Picture Perfect

Another beautiful Fall day!!! I am beginning to fear I'm going to have to pay for all this past awesomeness at some point...

Meet Lindsay and Stu, both from Chicago where they'll be married next year. I recently met with Lindsay to chat about their engagement session and while I won't be spending the Big Day with them, I was lucky enough to share the better part of a Saturday afternoon at a few of my favorite Seattle scenic spots.

Slightly bummed that September in Chicago lacks the beautiful Fall leaves Lindsay was hoping for, she wanted to shoot as soon as possible in order to capture Seattle's stunning Autumn colors. So after meeting on Thursday, we shot the following Saturday. Certainly can't waste too much time with our weather here in the Pacific Northwest!

We met up at their place and walked to Gasworks for some fun with balloons and their goofy pup, Halstead. From there we were off to enjoy the turning leaves, a little salsa dancing, and a picture perfect day at Greenlake. We rounded out our afternoon-turned-evening at the Shilshole Bay Marina. Lindsay and Stu took sailing lessons after moving here and wanted to capture that shared love in their photos. Now, I've shot at Shilshole quite a bit, but never with the chance to shoot a beautiful couple on a sailboat. SO awesome!

Congrats again to Stu and Lindsay, thanks a million for sharing such a perfect Seattle day with me!! I can't wait to see your wedding photos, you make such a picture perfect couple. :)

Lauren + Brian | "O" Happy Day

For the second installation in my Game Day blog, I am here to give a little love to the Oregon Ducks.

Meet Lauren and Brian, both Oregon alumni and beer lovers like myself. We met up at the Brave Horse Tavern for a quick beer and hot pretzel before getting their adorable golden-doodle, Gnocchi, and heading over to South Lake Union. I've been very lucky with our Fall weather this year in regards to shooting and this day was no different. I do love a crisp October afternoon!

Gnocchi had a blast chasing the ball around (unfortunately the geese were lacking) and we got a nice stroll around the harbor and the very cool Center for Wooden Boats. While I do have a considerable number of Husky fans whom I call friends, I want to wish Brian and Lauren and the rest of you Ducks out there much luck in today's match up. Game on.

Jaymee + Rob | Go Purple Be Gold!

Today I decided to do a little something special with the blog. This evening the University of Washington will be playing Oregon in the final game before construction begins on what will be the new Husky Stadium. So, in honor of the final days of this historic, albeit a bit outdated, venue I'll be posting a blog for each team. While normally I believe in deferring, first up, Huskies!

About a month ago I met up with Jaymee, Rob, and the adorably photogenic Louie at their place in Bellevue. Monday afternoons aren't really the best time for crossing the 520 and they decided wisely that carpooling would be our best bet.

After a quick beer and a little snacking at The Ram, we began our shoot outside of Husky Stadium where the bronze statue of Kibo (by local artist Georgia Gerber) stands welcoming fans, students, and visitors to campus. A couple quick picks in front of Hec Ed and Louie's own photo shoot with a purple and gold hydrant and we were off to Suzzallo library for some quick and quiet photo ops. We ended our day back on the Eastside at the beautiful Willows Lodge for a couple more photos and a great glass of red to round out our busy afternoon.

I had an absolute blast with these guys and hope to see them again, perhaps a trip to Louie's agility class is in order? Big congrats on your upcoming wedding, I wish you both (and the Huskies) the very best!

Mindy + Chris | Vintage DIY BBQ

Oh how I love Do It Yourself weddings.

Mindy and Chris's ceremony was understated and lovely. With a few quick words and a lot of love, they exchanged vows outside on a beautiful Labor Day weekend. The rest of the evening was all about friends and family and the enjoyment of all. There was fabulous BBQ, tasty sweet tea, lawn games, and lots of yummy desserts.

Let me just tell you that Mindy is one amazing woman. There are lots of brides out there who plan their weddings from out of town, this I know, but I don't know too many of them who also hand-make all of their own programs, flower arrangements, favors, hair pieces, and decorations. Superwoman, I am telling you. I especially loved the vintage LOVE sign, mason jar Thank You gifts, and fun mushroom-adorned boutonnieres. So crafty!

Congratulations to the fantastic Mindy and Chris and best wishes for a fantastic future, I cannot wait to hear what adventure is in store next for you two! Perhaps I'll visit you for a Tennessee adventure, I do love farm animals, and must meet your pups!

Julianne + Jeff | Best. Thursday. Ever.

Julianne and Jeff were married at the gorgeous Semiamoo Resort in the charming city of Blaine on a beautifully sunny Thursday afternoon. For those of you unfamiliar with our Northern cities, Blaine is just shy of the Canadian border, a fact that had us all playing a fun game of Hide and Seek with AT&T and Rodgers Wireless all weekend.

Jules and Jeff are two of the most beautiful people I have ever met, both inside and out. They are each immensely artistic, caring and gracious. Family is everything to these two (with creativity being a close second), so when they began to plan their wedding they knew right away it would be big and it would be beautiful. So beautiful in fact, that I had a seriously difficult time limiting the number of images in this post, and as you'll see I clearly lost the battle. Everything was simply perfect, from Julianne's stunning feathered heels to the ring bearers adorable caps, vests and knickers.

I feel so incredibly blessed to have been part of this beautiful day. These families and their friends truly know how to make someone feel not only welcome, but loved. Jeff, Julianne, Mel, Joce, Devon, Darren, thank you so very much for continuing to always make me feel like family. I love you guys and am so excited to hear about all the amazing accomplishments I know await you!!

Amanda + Taylor | A Day of Riches

Hello there! I figured since my last post featured a couple of Tigers fans, perhaps I should introduce you to some Redsox fans. You may remember these two from one of my favorite engagement shoots this past Spring at Alpental. Well, if you don't remember them, I'm sure you'll remember Fenway, their adorable golden retriever. Who could forget that happy mug?!

Amanda and Taylor Rich were married at the beautiful and charming Bybee blueberry Farm at the base of Mt. Si on a gorgeous Summer afternoon. I have been to a lot of outdoor venues and this has got to be one of the most breathtaking places I've seen. Because of the natural beauty of this place, their decorations were minimal and perfect. Handmade table runners and patchwork-styled pennants, escort cards attached to ribbon with clothes pins, and lawn games gave the feeling of a relaxed, backyard affair. Throw in some tasty barbecue and mouth-watering fruit pies and you have all the ingredients you need for a perfect evening in the countryside.

A very big thank you to Amanda and Taylor for sharing such a gorgeous afternoon with me and to Fenway for the comic relief of carrying around a bridesmaid's shoe much of the evening. I was super bummed to hear that I missed out of the crazy after party, but glad to hear that everyone basically left unscathed, minus of course the tiny trip to the ER. :)

Happy Halloween | Why I should not have children...

Happy Halloween my little gremlins!

Little Miss Ferguson would like to wish you all a very happy Halloween. She'd also like to thank you for sharing in her misery as she is forced to endure the shame of being the only cat of the three made to wear not just one but two lame costumes this year. Truth be told, Cleo looked like she might pee her little fur pants and Clyde would have taken my eyes out. It's an odds game, really.

I hope you all have a safe holiday and that the toothpaste, peanuts, and crayons are at a minimum this year.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

In honor of the fabulous holiday that is Halloween (only second to Christmas in my book), I waited to post this fun engagement shoot from earlier in the month with the charming Jason and my self-proclaimed bride-twin, Anna. I adore these two, who are the first in a string of couples this month who began their session at a bar, a trend I'm really starting to enjoy. We met up at Buckley's in Belltown which turns into an insane University of Michigan (Anna and Jason's alma mater) bar on Saturdays when the Wolverines are playing. It's really quite impressive, if you're an alumni and for some reason did not know about this, I highly suggest you get you butt over there this weekend. You can thank me later.

After much key jingling, flag waving, and general ballyhoo, we were off to their Queen Anne apartment to goof around with their adorable tiger, or rather tabby, Magglio Ordonez, and do a little pumpkin carving! :) I love engagement sessions that 1.) allow me to shoot fun stuff 2.) participate in said "fun stuff" and 3.) play with cats. So needless to say, I hit the trifecta. I even got to share their super cool specialized pumpkin carving tools. AND these guys are AWESOME. Seriously, you just can't beat that.

Anna and Jason, I have a feeling we'll be hanging out again soon, you just let me know when the gingerbread houses are being decorated and I am SO there for round two.

Julie + Jordan | Kirkland Fun Time

This past Sunday I had the joy of spending the afternoon with Julie and Jordan and their adorable dog, Houghton. We met up at the Kirkland waterfront and tooled around for a bit before heading over to the Wilde Rover for a quick pint and some nachos (they make theirs with potato chips!). After our brief respite, we were back to the waterfront for some pier-jumping and, dare I say it, a little skipping. We stopped by their place to grab Houghton and finished our lovely afternoon with an unexpected jump in the lake (well, Houghton, at least).

Thank to Julie and Jordan for hanging out, I SO enjoyed chatting about The League, Hot-Lava-Monster, and awesome immature things you can do during conference calls. Love you guys and I am now, even more than ever, looking forward to the fun of your wedding next year!!!!

Kay Kay + Socrates | Come Fly With Me

The most true thing I could possibly say about Kay Kay and Socrates is that they are awesome. I don't mean that casually. I mean, like seriously super awesome. Sweet and kind and crazy creative. These two simply ROCK. Now, if you don't know these two and are thinking that perhaps I'm getting a little overzealous with my affection for them, let me just throw out a few tidbits regarding their beautiful wedding day...

1. Their reception was at the Future of Flight Museum. SO COOL!

2. Kay Kay kicked it in a pair of drool-worthy blood-orange Dolce & Gabbana peep toes the entire day.

3. Socrates rocked a pair kick ass Pumas. Sneaks on your wedding day? Genius.

4. Socrates surprised his beautiful new wife with a private helicopter ride to their reception.

5. There was a roast pig!

6. A build-your-own cupcake station, need I say more?

7. After their ceremony, their bridal party waved their hands in the air (basically like they just didn't care) as the couple made their way back down the aisle to Naughty By Nature's Hip Hop Hooray.

8. Kay Kay had three wardrobe changes- her wedding dress, her traditional Thai dress, and a sassy reception dress fit for partying.

9. Just look how wicked awesome those bouquets and boutonnieres are!

10. The amazing Fly Six B, one of the hottest dance troops in Japan, danced at their reception (another awesome surprise Soc had in store for Kay Kay and she FLIPPED!)

I told you, awesome. There was also a dance-off and fabulous food, wonderful people and the coolest bridal party. Oh, and I cannot forget to mention how stunning their invitations were, made to look like airline tickets, which were thought up by Kay Kay and designed by her fabulous stylist and candlelighter, May Praseuth. I'm telling you girl, you need to quit your day job and start up a paper design company. Those invites were dope!! And I am not one to just throw that word around.

Thanks to Kay Kay and Soc for sharing their amazing day with me, I know I've made amazing friends in you two and cannot wait to see what is in store for your very bright future together.

Jessica + Ryan | Leavenworth Day Tripping

Again, I'm going to be brief. Don't let that have you think these two aren't awesome, let it have you think I'm just not SUPER chatty today. :)

So...

The first weekend of Fall I went on a road trip with the fantastic duo of Jessica and Ryan for a little get-to-know-you time, some beers, a fair amount of wine tasting and a couple photos thrown in just so I could say I was actually "working".

I was delighted to find out, as I pulled up to their place at the unearthly weekend hour of 7:30am, was that we'd be joined on our travels by their wiggle-worm three month old lab pup, Koda. Let me tell you, next to my Venti Nonfat Latte, nothing wakes you up faster than something licking the back of your neck.

We had a great time (minus the excruciating Hwy 2 bathroom break fiasco) and I can't wait to see what they have in store for their wedding in February. I am so super excited to have them as my first wedding of 2012! Anyhow, nothing tells a story better than photos, so I'll leave you to it.

There's lots more to come on the blog, so stay tuned!! Oh, and if you happen to find yourself in Leavenworth you simply must take a few extra minutes to travel through to Peshanstin to the amazing Icicle Ridge Winery. They have some fabulous Reds and some of the best Whites I've enjoyed lately. Do it, you can thank me later.

Molly + Kyle | Seaside Attraction

Meet Molly and Kyle. I met these two through my BBF Greg (that's Best Boyfriend Forever) who works with Kyle at the beautiful Glendale Country Club, a private golf course in Bellevue. Molly and Kyle are two fabulous people with two fabulous dogs who are getting married in one of the most fabulous places next Fall, the Florida Keys. And we get to celebrate this gorgeous couple with some of the coolest peeps in this amazing paradise. Not to mention their wedding falls on the same weekend as both mine and Greg's birthdays. Sometimes being a wedding photographer is suuuuuuuper rough.

What did I say? Fabulous.

Kyle and Molly decided that we'd begin our our day at the Seattle Aquarium and since they're both huge football fans, like myself, we'd also swing by The Clink for a few stadium-inspired photos wearing their respective jerseys. I know it's hard, but try not to judge Molly solely based on her love of the Steelers. We all have our faults, and she really is extremely lovely. From there we were off to the Eastside to pick up their pups Harley and Cody for a little lawn frolicking near their place in Issaquah. We ended our day the best way I know how, meeting up with my BBF at Sip Wine Bar for a few final photos before enjoying some wonderful wine and great food.

Thanks to Molly and Kyle for indulging in a full day of shooting and putting up with a little more smiling than anyone should have to in a 5 hour period. Can't wait for our next Happy Hour!

Wendy + Josh | Good Clean Fun

Yes yes, I know it's been forever since my last post. Therefore my next three posts will (hopefully) come quickly and without much ado from yours truly. Lots to post, so let's get to it...

Josh and Wendy are goofballs. Seriously. I know a lot of goofy people but these two might officially be the royal couple of dorkery. It is absolutely impossible not to have a smile on your face when you're around these guys and I'm pretty sure Wendy has the best, most infectious laugh I've ever heard. Instantly they remind you of that time back in elementary school when you used to hit the girls you liked and made fun of the boys you had crushes on. There is simply no doubt how much these two adore each other. Now I know what my couples feel like at the end of these shoots, with all that smiling my cheeks actually hurt a little on the drive home! Ridiculous. So what better place to take a super fun couple than a slightly dingy (but oh-so-friendly!) laundromat. Afterwhich we popped over to Greenlake to enjoy about 20 minutes of nice weather and to toss the ball around. While Wendy and Josh are both huge Seahawks fans, they have slightly different options about college ball... and that's how our friendly game of catch became true tackle football.

I had a blast with you two and can't wait for the wedding next year. We must make time for more laundry soon!! Or at least a beer. Are there laundromats that serve beer? There should be.

Aaron + Emily | There Was a Time in Dubai...

Needless to say I go to a LOT of weddings. However, while I find each of them unique and cool in its own special way, I can honestly say that Aaron and Emily's wedding was one of my favorites ever. I knew the minute we met at my Woodinville office (known to many as Redhook Brewery) that they were special. These two epitomize my ideal clients; people who are technically clients but seem more appropriate to call friends. They are creative, fun, and don't take themselves too seriously. I mean, remember their awesome engagement shoot!? SO fun.

Emily and Aaron had decided early in their relationship that they would wait until there was universal marriage equality for all before they tied the knot (such a wonderful idea!), however the Peace Corps' policy on couples threw a little wrench into that plan. To be kept together, they would have to be married for at least a year. Weighing their still strong conviction for equal rights with wanting to get involved travelling with Peace Corps as soon as possible, they made the decision to revise the big picture. So began the wedding plans.

I found everything about this wedding perfect. We started our afternoon at the eclectic Hotel Monoco, Emily got ready in a beautiful teal Betsy Johnson dress and adorable heels borrowed from a friend. Aaron arrived shortly after and the dramatic bedroom curtains made for a fun "reveal". From the hotel, we all walked the few blocks over to their venue: the Seattle Municipal Courthouse. Many may think that the courthouse isn't the most picturesque place for wedding photos, but let me tell you, I was as surprised as anyone. It's new, it's modern, and it has a beautiful view. Check out the Smith Tower! Who knew the courthouse would become one of my favorite venues?

After a quick chat with the honorable Willie Gregory II in his super cool baseball-themed judge's quarters, the couple returned to an intimate group of family and friends in the Courthouse Library for a concise, but lovely and tear-filled ceremony.

With the official nuptials completed, their small group of family and friends rushed down stairs to give the couple a fun ribbon-waving exit and we all headed back to the hotel. (But not before Emily had a chance to toss her bouquet in the direction of her fleeing bridesmaids.) Lucky me, once back at the hotel I was treated to one of my favorite wedding activities, a good old fashioned pillow fight, before the couple headed off to dinner in their newly decorate automobile. I told you these guys were fun.

Aaron and Emily, I hope that you both know how much joy you each bring to those around you. And, while you're both truly unique and wonderful people, together is how you thrive. Together, you are an unstoppable force. I feel blessed to know you and to have been able to share your perfect day. Let's party again soon!!

Sara + Bruce | Waterfront Walk Engagement

Sara and Bruce are getting married in 6 short days, so as I mentioned last week, I'm going to keep this brief to allow them a few days of engagement photo gazing before that all goes out the window and they begin waiting patiently for their wedding post.

These two are absolutely lovely and honestly any couple who wants to meet up at Kell's Irish Pub for a couple pints to begin an engagement shoot is OK in my book. :) After Kell's we took a nice stroll through Pike Place and ended up on the waterfront with plenty of sparkling Summer water and a few less than friendly seagulls. Sara works for Starbucks, so of course we had to stop by at the end of shooting. Iced tea lemonade in hand (thank you Sara!) we split ways and I winded my way back up through the market and to my car. I must say, the rest of my couples have their work cut out for them, as I can't imagine another couple being more charming than these two. Admittedly, Bruce's English accent may have something to do with that. However, the BLT, cold Hoegaarden, and Starbucks was icing on the cake. :)

Thanks again you guys for sharing a wonderful sunny Summer day with me, we may not have too many of those left. See you next weekend!!!

Dionne + Andrew | HOO RAY!

My absolute favorite description I heard about Dionne and Andrew's relationship, during their beautiful Skansonia wedding in July, came in the form of her mother's post-ceremony toast. "It's amazing what you can find on Craig's List these days!". Indeed it is. While I wouldn't have thought that would be the way to meet your soul mate, Dionne and Andrew definitely proved me wrong. They may be one in a million, but they are truly perfect for one another, so who knows? Perhaps Craig's List deserves a second glance. :)

I always love shooting at the Skansonia because it's so unique and always seems to be quite personal to the couples involved. The staff is lovely and the food is yummy, and what Seattle couple wouldn't want to be married on Lake Union with such an amazing view.

Aside from the venue, Dionne and Andrew had so many personalized elements to their wedding. Her dress, for instance, was made by her mom. How cool is that? They had adorable wedding-themed rubber ducky cake toppers and gluten-free cupcakes for Andrew. I especially loved her fun blue heels (I'm a sucker for colorful wedding shoes!) and their programs which had the ceremony info on one side and doubled as cute signs with sayings like "Hooray!" and "Congrats!" on the back.

Thank you so much to Dionne and Andrew for allowing me to capture and share in their special day, I had a great time and surprisingly made it home without too much of a sunburn. :)

Stacy + Justin | Friday Harbor Day Trip

For the sake of actually getting many of these engagement photos up before my lovely couples get married, I'm going to be brief this week. For Stacy and Justin's session I was treated to a day in the sun in Friday Harbor. I'd never been and Justin had been dying to take Stacy there, so they thought what a better reason to go? So we met up at the crack of dawn (at Starbucks of course) consolidated cars and headed up the highway to Anacortes. Once on the island we headed straight for Pelindaba Lavender Farm for a little lavender ice cream and a pleasant walk amongst the bees. We then stopped by the market to pick up picnic fixins and had a lovely lunch at the lighthouse while scanning the water for whales before taking the pleasant ferry ride back to civilization. These two remind me why I love these long day shoots with my couples, we had such a lovely time.

Thanks to Justin for the island tour, I can't believe your wedding is just two short weeks away!!! See you soon, we're going to have a fabulous time.

Misty + Nando | A Segue to Segways

It seems appropriate that Nando, Misty and I rode Segways during their whirlwind engagement shoot Seafair Sunday because although we crammed a lot of places into our 5 hours, we had smooth transitions from one activity to the next. Nice segues if you will. :) Ok, so that was a lot for one little Segway reference.

We started off at their apartment downtown and were immediately off to Gameworks for a little pop-a-shot, cycle racing, and some big game dinosaur hunting. After tearing Nando away from his tennis winning streak, we headed over to the market for pics at the gum wall, mac'n'cheese at Beechers, and some bubble tea for me. From there we headed down for our Segway tour which met up under the viaduct at a sketchy little place with no signage. Not sure what I was getting into, Misty assured me we were at the right place and minutes later the current tour was back in a parade of helmeted tourists.

We had a great time weaving in and out of Seafair ped-traffic on our zippy little Segways. It's amazing how far you can get in a relatively short amount of time on those things. We made it to the pier and all the way down to the Sculpture Garden waterfront before heading back, parking our toys and driving over to Seattle's best view, Kerry Park.

After taking in the view and waving a few flags, we stopped for a few pics at Hula Hula. Misty and Nando's favorite bar and the birthplace of their official relationship. You could say this was where it all started. I just want to say that I am starting to be shocked at the number of my clients who can attribute part of their relationships to karaoke. Honestly, it's staggering.

We finished off our marathon afternoon back at Black Bottle for drinks and ox tail, the way any good day should end. Since our shoot and at the time of this post, Misty and Nando have now already officially tied the knot, but I am super excited to be there in November when they renew their vows.

Congrats you two, I had a blast sharing a beautiful Sunday with you! See you soon!

Katie + Seth | Urban Oasis Wedding

It's funny, but when I stop to think about it, I've known Katie longer than any other friend I currently have. And while we'd lost touch over the past few years, I was overjoyed when she contacted me about shooting her wedding to the fabulous Seth. We first met back in elementary school and continued to share the same alma maters through college, if you can believe it. Latona, Eckstein, Garfield, and WWU; we've been Road Runners, Bulldogs, Vikings...quite the myriad of fierce mascots. I shouldn't really be surprised, after all those of you who grew up here in the Seattle area know that if you stick around long enough (especially in the Seattle Metro School Dist.) you know someone who knows someone who either made your double tall nonfat latte this morning or did your taxes last Spring. We Seattlites know each other. Case in point: My Minnesota boyfriend whom I met online nine fabulous years ago, turned out to be friends with a guy who went to UW with my brother. Still following me? I may have left you on a tangent... shocker.

Back to now. Katie and Seth were married (with their fabulous pup Cyrus!) at the beautifully tranquil Odell Center just outside of Kent. It is an urban oasis which speaks to your inner yogi. When you stop to take it all in, you realize all you hear is the wind and the birds. It's wonderful. And in mid-July, it is hot. Prefaced by a resonant gong, the ceremony was held outdoors at the gazebo and followed by a lovely reception steps away in a clearing of trees. They made several of the wedding elements themselves including the ADORABLE cake toppers that Seth crafted himself with paper mache. There were fun lawn games too, including croquette and a beanbag toss, not to mention lots and lots of dancing!

Thanks to Seth and Katie for a fabulous day in the sun and treating me to such wonderful food and company. Much love and best wishes to you both!!!!

Meagan + Aaron | Wolk This Way

The first time Meagan and I met I found out that she'd snagged a business card from dane + dane studios in the event that she got engaged sometime soon. She and Aaron adore their weimaraner, Rozzi and knew they'd need a photographer who was equally enamored with dogs. Eight months later, she emailed me. I knew right away that we were going to hit it off, a feeling that only tripled when we met a second time with Aaron and Rozzi for their engagement session.

Aaron and Meagan were married at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish, one of my very favorite venues. It seems no matter what time of year I'm shooting their the weather is always the same. While the temperature was pleasant, the clouds loomed and threatened rain. Not to be discouraged, the couple made the call to go forth with the outdoor ceremony and it paid off. While we did get some drops near the end, most of the ceremony remained dry. As they began their vows, the joke was on them when the groomsmen switched out Meagan's wedding band with a big plastic costume ring. Everyone had a good laugh, even Meagan. All jokes aside, the correct band made it on the bride's finger, they promised and kissed and we all headed out of the sprinkling for some awesome food, great music, and fabulous cake. They even had pot sticker appetizers passed out mid evening. Now THAT is my kind of wedding. I was especially fond of the grey bridesmaid dresses which happened to match Rozzi perfectly. Coincidence? I think not.

I am super excited to see these two again next year when we're reunited at Hidden Meadows for the wedding of their bridesmaid, Krystina, and groomsman, Nick! See you guys next Summer for another rockin party!!!

Quick posting note: While I fight off a nasty Summer cold waiting for my natural cleverness to present itself, I have come to realize that sometimes you just need to get on with it. Such is the case with Meagan and Aaron's wedding blog. Please do not take my lack of zest as anything other than the product of mid-wedding-season-exhaustion. Meagan and Aaron, you two ROCK.

{Interlude} Amanda's Bridal Session

Today I have a quick interlude for you between wedding and engagement posts. A couple weekends ago I had a the pleasure of heading out to the beautifully tranquil Mountain Meadow Lavender Farm in Roy, Washington. It was there that I met up with the adorable Amanda for a Sunday evening bridal session. Amanda will be getting married in Texas this November but wanted her bridal photos done here in Washington. We'd been chatting via email since last Fall about a portrait session and had such a blast at this fabulous venue she'd found. Seriously, how amazing is this place?! Dramatic barn, whimsical tree swing, and all that lovely lavender, what more could we ask for? Maybe a kick-ass veil? Awesome.

Thanks for a wonderful evening Amanda, it was so great to meet you. You're such a beautiful bride and Scott is a very lucky guy. Congrats and be sure to keep in touch!!!

Justin + Lisa | Just Dance!

Once a year I get a rare wedding that is quirky and different and completely awesome. Lisa and Justin had just such a wedding. They were married outside at the gorgeous Salish Lodge in a small ceremony of maybe 30 people. You may remember them from their gamer engagement shoot a few months back.

Everything was tailored to the two of them- from Lisa's black wrist cuff and dark polish to Justin's vegan cupcakes (Salish makes them!) and the treasure chest that held their rings. It was a simple ceremony on a Sunday evening in front of their closest family and friends. My favorite part being after their first kiss when they walked back down the aisle and Lisa spiked her bouquet!

The reception that followed was a three course dinner followed by cupcakes and their first dance. But these two are not your conventional bride and groom, so why would they have a conventional first dance? No, instead they started up Kinect Dance Central and treated us all to a tandem dance to Lady Gaga's Just Dance. It was awesome!

After lots more Dance Central and plenty of laughs, everyone said their good byes and we followed Justin and Lisa up to their room for a few more fun photos before we said our own good byes. This was definitely my most unique wedding of the year and certainly one of the most entertaining. We had such a fantastic time spending the evening with all of you!!!

Aaron + Emily | Lovin' on a Jet Plane

I met Aaron and Emily about two months a go and knew right away that we were going to have a lot of fun together. So far, I have not been disappointed. First of all you should know that Aaron is one of those people that just magically gets stuff done. Basically the lead up dialog prior to our shoot yesterday went a little like this:

Aaron: "We were thinking it'd be cool to shoot at the airport or on an airplane because we both love to travel."
Pretty sure there is no way the TSA is letting us on an aircraft. Especially with a camera.
Aaron: "I've been talking with Alaska Air and I think this might work"
That'd be awesome, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Aaron: We're all set. Gail will be meeting us at the training facility on her day off so that we can shoot in Alaska's training fuselage.
Seriously?!

And that's Aaron for you. Oh, you want me to come in on my day off so that I can show your around a secure facility even thought I don't know you from Adam, and let you on the same aircraft where we train all of our employees? Of course! There is no way I could have made that happen. But Aaron did. And the magic didn't stop there.

When we got to the facility, Gail was running late. While waiting outside of the building for her we happened upon Bill, or rather Bill happened upon us. Bill also works at the training facility and took it upon himself to ask if while we were waiting we might want to shoot inside their flight simulator. Um, yes please!

While, needless to say, we had an awesome day of shooting inside, with such a gorgeous day outside we decided to end our afternoon of fun at Greenlake. Really, how many couple do you know that would wade into a lily pad bog for some great photo ops? I was so blessed to be able to shoot at such awesome locations with two amazing people!

I want to thank you two for showing me such a fantastic time and for feeding me cookies when I had a tummy ache. :) I can't think of two more awesome people I want to share an afternoon at the courthouse with next month!!!
